Writer Kevin Fegan Composer Natalie Roe Director Philip Parr Producer Skylar Mabry |
A community musical play to coincide with the 2022 Commonwealth Games coming to Solihull, performed by the people of the Borough in July 2022.
Commissioned for the Solihull's Jubilee Gardens Extravaganza on 26 July in Jubilee Gardens, there will be three further shows offering the chance for others to see it live on stage at The Core. Do you remember the time when you were taught to ride a bike? Or the thrill of racing off-road with your friends? Have you recently rediscovered the pleasure of cycling and keeping fit? Or riding to work, in response to the demands of climate change? The call for more cycle lanes on our roads marks a return to valuing the role of cycling in society and a chance to rediscover our love of the bicycle. Meet the Blythe family who are passionate about cycling, but for very different reasons. Dad, mum, daughter, and son explore the role the bicycle plays and has played in our lives and communities for over a hundred and fifty years. Meet Tommy Godwin, Solihull’s “father of cycling”. Tommy’s story captures Solihull’s contribution to the story of the bicycle. A celebration of the wonderful world of cycling. Long before Land Rover production in Solihull, The Rover Company started out as a manufacturer of bicycles in the nineteenth century. Now the humble bicycle – ubiquitous across the globe – is staging a comeback. |
